• Porsche 917 #10 Le Mans 24 Hour 1969 (John Woolfe & Herbert Linge)

This is a high-quality 1:43rd Spark resin model of the #10 Porsche 917 from the 1969 Le Mans 24 Hour. It was driven by John Woolfe (GBR) and Herbert Linge (DEU).

Tragically John Woolfe (23 March 1932 - 14 June 1969) was killed when the Porsche 917 crashed heavily into the barriers at the very fast Maison Blanche curve. The crash occured on the first lap, and he was thrown out of the cockpit by the force of the impact. His death, plus protests about the dangers of the traditional "Le Mans Start", meant that this starting proceedure was subsequently abolished (to save time most drivers ran across the track and did not fasten their seat belts or close their doors properly before starting). So the following year - 1970 - all drivers were safely strapped in and doors securely closed before the race started.
